I feel like my project didn't have that big of an impact on my community, maybe it will in the future but as of now not so much. I could tell when giving the survey to students that they were all very happy that I could provide them with information about our schools cafeteria food. So in that sense I did effect those students because I let them know what was going on with their school and that they can make a difference everyday and how easy it is to just talk to the Health Administrators of the school. I also know that when I was talking to Chef Anthony and Mark, the health director, that they were eager to see my results and that they were going to use them in conducting there own project of changing our school food. The impact I made had small effects on people not so much a big effect on my whole community but it definitely was a step in the right direction of making change and having your voice heard. The small successes of my project showed me how easy it is to have an effect even if its on a few people it also effects you in the end and you learn and grow from these experiences.

I think your project was really awesome Heather. I completely agree with you about learning and growing from the small success life brings. I really hope a big change is made next year as far as the cafe food goes!
ReplyDeleteHeather,
ReplyDeleteI think your project truly had an impact on the community. You represent the student population and shared with the district what students like you think. As the district reviews its food sales and choices, your survey gave them vital "grass roots" information. I agree with both you and CJ- no matter how little the experience, it does have an effect on you.
