How my project addressed a need in my community
If you ask someone if they like going to the doctor, most likely they will say no. A majority of people have an irrational fear of doctors and hospitals because they had a negative experience at one point in their lives. What my project aims to do is to reduce unnecessary anxiety and fears in children who are about to under go medical procedures such as surgeries. There is a great need for programs like this in hospitals around the world. When children are taught from an early age that the hospital can be a good place and doctors are good people they are more likely to seek medical attention as the grow older leading to a healthier global community.

I definitely agree! Your project sounded like it was very beneficial to both doctors and patients at the hospitals. I love how you were able to reach out to people and make them feel more comfortable throughout their stay at the hospital. Most people that have been to the hospital know it can be a pretty intimidating place so it is so cool that your project contributed to removing that factor!
ReplyDeleteBriana,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your project! I love the fact that you not only raised awareness but also have something tangible to give to children in hospitals. If you would like to continue to support this cause, why not bring the idea of surgi dolls to quilting or sewing clubs in the community? Family and Consumer Science classes? Your project can live on beyond this class. Way to go!
