How my project helped address needs of community- marina Colicci
The children's home of poughkeepsie was a great place to donate for. My donations were greatly needed. The children's home of poughkeepsie receives government funding, but that government funding only covers basic necessities such a providing food, money to help raise the children, put a roof over their heads, etc. What the government funding doesn't do is give them clothing, help fund extra programs that they provide, allow them to go on Little field trips, get presents on holidays, etc, and that's where donations come in to play. The children's home was definitely in need and my project helped to address those needs by getting the community aware an getting them involved as well as myself to be able to provide those donations. These donations gave them money to help fund those extra things and the clothes allowed the Children to look like their peers so that they didn't seem different .

This is really cool. I like that your project was for something you were passionate about. I think donating to a children's home is a really cool idea, and I didn't know that they were at such a loss for clothes. Good job!!
ReplyDeleteI really loved your project! I don't think people realize how much of an issue poverty is in our community. Your project definitely addressed this need in a creative and unique way!
ReplyDeleteMarina,
ReplyDeleteI think that you did a great job! I'm very happy that you went ahead with this project, not only because you were successful but also because I think it opened your eyes to a need that you may not have been too aware of before. I can only imagine how grateful the Children's Home is. Way to go!
